Results of the Art Auction on 18th April

Results of the Art Auction on 18th April

This splendid occasion lived up to its promise. The 25 paintings in the Exhibition sold for a total of £6,480, rather more than had been anticipated, for the benefit of York Minster Revealed. The evening was attended by nearly 200 people, who listened to a very interesting talk by Jake Attree on how his early years growing up in York had had a profound influence on his artistic choices.

After refreshments taken in the Chapter House in a warm sociable atmosphere, Dennis Wombell took us through the sale of the paintings with humour and encouragement to bid with confidence. This event had the full support of the Minster Community Committee, many of its members being involved in making sure the evening’s arrangements worked out smoothly and efficiently.
