Volunteering at York Minster
York Minster depends a great deal on nearly 500 volunteers. Volunteers do a lot to enhance the experience and enjoyment of people coming to the Minster, whether to light a candle, attend a service or as a visitor to a popular place of interest. Without these volunteers giving their time and enthusiasm, the Minster would not be able to provide as much for its worshippers or visitors.
People want to help for many different reasons. Some want to serve the Minster as an extension of their faith and worship, for some it comes from a love and appreciation of the building, its history and architecture and others come to meet people, learn new skills and to be part of the wider Minster community. We are looking for people from any age group, background or faith with a small amount of time to spare regularly, who would enjoy being part of the welcoming face of York Minster, who have a positive approach and an ability to communicate with a variety of people with different needs.
Time commitment ranges from 1 to 2 hours, once a week or once a fortnight, through to a considerable amount of time given by some of our volunteers.
