THE LADY AND THE UNICORN - A Mon Seul Desir (Only at my Will) - A stunning Jacquard wall tapestry, woven in a wool blend. Embellished with medieval style acanthus border. The original tapestries are the most celebrated set that have survived from the medieval period. They consist of six, now in the Cluny Museum, Paris. Depicting the five human senses and the sixth called "A Mon Seul Desir", Designed in Paris and woven in Brussels around 1470 by Willem de Pannemaker for Jean Le Viste (arms shown on the standards), whose family originated from Lyon and served Charles VIII. Here the graceful Lady's gesture replacing an item from the casket can be seen, In the loosely strewn flowers all kinds of animals disport themselves.
