The Minster is open for sightseeing everyday as well as regular services, events and concerts. Please note there are occasions when York Minster is open for services only. Please check our Closures section for sightseeing closures.

Plus, your admission ticket to York Minster is valid for 12 months! A free guided tour is included in your admission price, subject to availability. Adult admission starts from just £10 and children under-16 can visit the Minster for free with an adult!

In these circumstances we trust you will understand why we charge for entry. No charges are made for those who wish to enter York Minster to pray, light a candle, or attend a service.

The Minster will close from 1.30-3.30pm for St Peter's School Christmas Carol service. We will re-open for our visitors from 4.00pm until 6.30pm (last admission 5.00pm).

Quire and East End closed from 10.00-12.30pm for a Service of Prayer and Dedication after civil marriage for Victoria Stewart and Dr Koki Imada. The Minster will close at 6.00pm for a performance of Handel's Messiah. — More info

The Chapter House will close from 12.30pm until 4.00pm as part of the Christingle service. The Christingle service will be held in the North Transept from 2.30pm until 4.00pm. Last admission to the Minster will be at 5.00pm. The Minster will close at 6.00pm to prepare for the St Michael Le Belfry Christmas Carol service. — More info
