Group Visits

Visiting York Minster with a group

This information and form are for adult groups only. For information on visiting with a school group, please visit the School Visits section of this website.

York Minster is a wonderful place to visit with a group.  The size of the Minster means there are no maximum numbers for groups.  The Minster provides a dedicated bookings service through the Visitors' Department, and we recommend that you pre-book visits.  Pre-booking allows your group to reserve guides and book visits to the Undercroft. Pre-booking is also strongly advisable since both service and opening times can vary.

To pre-book, please complete the booking form (click on 'Booking Form' in the left hand column).

If you complete our online booking form we will ensure that your visit will not conflict with a service or closure. If your group wish to have a guided tour with one of our voluntary guides, please give us at least 28 days notice to arrange this.

After completing the form, we will send you confirmation of your visit, or if the time or date you suggest is unsuitable, offer an alternative time. Please note that bookings are not final until you receive written confirmation from us.

Groups are welcome to visit between 9:30 and 17.00 (last admission) Monday to Saturday, and 12.30 to 15.30 (last admission) on Sundays.  Please note that we cannot provide guided tours on a Sunday.  Please be aware that cathedral access will be limited during services.
