Minster opening times and prices

The Minster is open daily for early services from 7.00am and usually closes at 6.30pm.

Charges are made for those visiting for sightseeing (see below).

Please click HERE to book a group visit, or HERE for a school visit.

No charges are made for those who wish to enter the Minster to pray or light a candle: please ask a member of staff on arrival.

Monday - Saturday: open 9.00am (9.30am November- March);
last entry 5.30pm

Sunday: 12.00 noon - 3.45pm

No sightseeing on Good Friday and Easter Sunday
or on Sundays before 12.00 noon

PLEASE NOTE: there are occasions when the Minster is open for services only, and when the Chapter House is closed for meetings or events.  Please contact us in advance to check if open or visit our events calendar

Entrance Prices

Your visit to York Minster directly supports the future of this holy and historic building, which receives no funding from central or local government.

In these circumstances we trust you will understand why we charge for entry. Thank you for your support.

Entry into the Minster (optional free guided tour) including entry to the Undercroft, Treasury & Crypt
Adult: £8.00

Senior (60+)/student: £7.00


Children with family (16 and under): Free

Entry to the Tower:
Adult: £5.00


Senior (60+)/student: £4.00

Child (age 8 to 16): £3.00

Children under the age of 8 may not climb the Tower

 

Photography

Photography (including video) for personal use is free.

Photographs may not be taken in the Undercroft.
