Chorister Auditions

York Minster Choir will be holding its next auditions for potential boy and girl choristers on Saturday 27th February 2010.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a child currently in Year 2 or Year 3 to benefit from a great all-round musical and academic education with a scholarship to the Minster School up to 100% of the fees.

Being a chorister is a superb experience with the opportunity to sing in Europe's largest medieval cathedral, to be part of regular recordings and live broadcasts and to sing in exciting concerts both in the Minster and around the county.

The Director of Music, Robert Sharpe, would be delighted to meet prospective choristers and their parents informally before the audition day to chat about the opportunities the choir gives as well as to assess a child's ability before a decision is made whether or not to apply.  Please make contact in the first instance via the school (see below).

No special training is needed to apply for a choristership.  We are looking for a bright eye and quick ear as well as a love of singing.

For further information  please contact the Headmaster, The Minster School, York YO1 7JA, telephone 01904 557230, fax 01904 557232 or email school@yorkminster.org
